We’re picking up where we left off in our search for the most affordable hotels in Nigeria. This time, Ibadan and Port Harcourt are the destinations. All our selection rules apply.
Ibadan
Good to know: This three-star hotel is a budget superstar that’s well rated for clean rooms, excellent service and all-round value for money. There’s a restaurant on the premises but free breakfast isn’t part of the deal. If all you’re looking for is an affordable good night’s stay, this should probably be your first choice.

The fine print: It’s not perfect, but not for lack of trying. Guests like this four-star hotel for the service, and the obvious effort is extended with options: a swimming pool, a gym, free breakfast and several paid extras including laundry services and a car wash. Sounds like a bargain.

Good to know: With three stars and a room rate that screams affordability at less than 17,000 naira, this hotel gets quite a bit of love. Go for its proximity to the peaceful Agodi Gardens, stay for the gym, pool and spa access.

Port Harcourt
1. Southern Star Hotel & Towers, Okporo
The fine print: You won’t find a swimming pool or a gym at this four-star location, but most guests were appreciative of its quietness, service and classy decor. A restaurant and bar are the only side attractions.

The fine print: Not sure what it’s on the edge of, but this hotel aims pretty high with an almost five-star rating, a pool, a fitness centre, free breakfast a spa and a volleyball court (seriously). The room rate is closer to earth though, and guests say you get what you pay for.
