Weekend Agenda: Avoiding Perfection, Prize Money, More

Wanting to be great is great until it takes over your life from the moment you get out of bed to the moment you fall asleep, every day.

Like any other obsession, when we fuss over achieving greatness, we fall into a paradoxical trap – the more we chase it, the harder it gets to be great.

Instead of this exhausting quest, we should consider that¬being good may actually be good enough.

This weekend’s agenda is served.

1. Post-Perfect

Life as a perfectionist is quite unsatisfactory. Nothing is ever good enough because there’s always better, and better needs to move on to being the best. This sort of life is obviously a recipe for strife and frustration, and it should be¬avoided¬†if you want to protect your mental health.

2. Reportedly

Looks like¬Naira Marley¬†talked too much,¬comeback season¬†(starring Liverpool and Tottenham) and what happens when¬a female runner¬†performs like a man.

3. #Goals

Unilever has put a grand prize of 50,000 euros on the line for its 2019 Young Entrepreneurs Awards. If you’re not older than 35 and you meet¬the criteria, you should apply.

Pitch AgriHack 2019 is open to startups offering digital services in agriculture. Applications go¬here¬†for a grant of up to 15,000 euros.

Multichoice, the company behind DStv, is looking for young filmmakers to train. They don’t want your money, so you should jump on this¬now.

4. Screen Time

Ryan Reynolds slips into another interesting character this weekend as the anticipated¬POK√ČMON Detective Pikachu¬†opens at a cinema near you.

As always, you can get tickets to this film and events in the Lifestyle section of the ALAT app and on our all-new¬Outlet.

5. Residue

IT¬†is still the stuff of nightmares. (What is¬ITIT¬†is it.)

The best-looking video¬†of Lagos we’ve seen in a while.

Kissing¬matters. (Is this with or without bad breath?)

Enjoy your weekend.
