Weekend Agenda: The Ideal iPhone, A Morocco Trip, Shows And More

Are you getting enough exercise?

What about food and water?

Sleeping well?

We’re just checking because these days, everything seems to move so quickly that it’s easy to forget what matters most: your health.

Remember that if you don’t look after yourself, you won’t be useful to anyone for much longer.

Here’s this weekend’s good stuff:

1. 5C Re-Entry

Five years after it added a splash of colour to its phone lineup, Apple has done it again with the iPhone XR, the least expensive of three new iPhones launched this week.

But the XR (poorly named and pronounced ‘ten ar’) is nothing like the iPhone 5C, not just in form and function but also in rationale. This isn’t a product of compromise, it’s a full-fledged flagship phone pretending to be inexpensive so it can snatch your money. And maybe it will. It definitely makes a strong case for your consideration.

2. The News Feed

There’s plastic in your food, your choice of an X-something iPhone, the strange case of a kidnapped corpse, an unfiltered interview with Eminem and the Nigerian dancers the world has fallen in love with.

3. Your Turn

Launch a career in travel photography with an all-expenses-paid ten-day photo trip to Morocco accompanied by an acclaimed mentor courtesy of World Nomads. Take the shot.

How’s your Korean? If you’re in the information technology field (you know, IT, computers), you can get a scholarship to study for a master’s degree in South Korea. See how.

Reuters Pictures (a division of the Thomson Reuters news agency) is offering eight $5,000 grants to photojournalists and students of photojournalism. Details are here.

Interested in UNICAF scholarships to study abroad? Be at the UNICAF Open Day, Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja from 9:00 am this Saturday. Register here to get in.

4. Tickets Or Nah?

The Kona, Lekki is hosting The Mad Doctor, a stage play, at 6:00 pm this Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are here.

You can also attend a poetry slam competition at the same venue on Sunday.

Safari Live, a fresh music series, launches this Sunday at Bogobiri, Ikoyi. Get in for free at 6:00 pm.

This weekend’s biggest shows will be at the 2018 Africa Fashion Week Nigeria holding at The Lagoon, Victoria Island on Saturday and Sunday. Day 2 of the event is already sold out but you can still get a ticket to Day 1 shows here.

PS. Tickets to movies showing at Genesis Deluxe Cinemas on all Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays in September cost 700 naira on ALAT. Tap Lifestyle on the app to see what you can watch next week.

5. Spares

A short story. (No preview, just trust us on this one.)

Somebody made an all-conditions drone. (Because why the heck not?)

Recently, some guys at a bar figured they know what women want. Are they right?

David Guetta’s new album, 7, has two sides, 27 tracks and a slew of collaborations with everyone from Sia to Nicki Minaj. The man gave his all for this one. Stream his all on Apple Music or Deezer.

Take care and have a lovely weekend.
